The Schematic is the single most important output file from the EE. There are also that should be archived:
SPICE Analysis files,
ECB Netlist,
Bill Of Materials,

The Electronic output files are used by the:
Firmware Engineer,
ECB Designer,
Manufacturing Engineering,
Production,
Marketing.

All these files should be ISO-9000 compliant in form and stored in a compliant system.
This is as much a matter of sanity as it is for good business practice.
