The Project Leader insures that the development is following the Product Specifications. The title varies between companies (Project, Product or Program Manager or Leader), and may be assigned to the Engineering Manager or one of the engineers. All development paths require effective communication with the adjacent development path if the project is to flow efficiently. Methods include email, regular meetings, specific meetings when needed, and the Project Leader "managing by walking around". Much of Project Leading is investigating bottlenecks and complaints, much of which result from poor communication. Although a "New Product Introduction Specialist" is sometimes available, the Project Leader often begins preparation of the product for manufacturing.
